I'm not able to leave before the halls close. Can I stay past that date?

Housing Extensions are not granted for winter break. All freshman and sophomore students will need to vacate their housing assignment by Saturday, Dec. 9 at noon. Graduating or non-returning students in Opus are expected to vacate their housing assignment by Friday, December 15.

Does Creighton offer winter break housing?

Do I have to move all items out of my room?

Only those departing the university at semester break (graduating, study abroad, etc.) need to remove all items from their space. Students resuming classes on the Omaha campus in the spring semester do not need to remove all items from their space, and should only take the necessary items they’ll need with them over break.

When do the halls close?

Freshman and sophomore halls close at noon the day following the last day of final exams as designated by the University Registrar’s Academic Calendar. Upperclassman apartments close at 5 p.m. the Sunday following spring commencement.

I’m not able to leave before the halls close. Can I stay past that date?

You can complete a request for an Extended Stay via the Housing Portal. Extended Stay requests will only be granted through the Sunday of graduation or through Opus apartment transition dates on a case-by-case basis.

I was approved for an extended stay, now what?

You will receive an email from Housing outlining the specifics of your extended stay. You may be able to remain in your spring housing assignment, or you may be required to move into a temporary space.

How do I apply for summer housing?

All students interested in living on campus for the summer (not Opus) need to complete a Summer Housing application via the Housing Portal. Read more about summer housing options.

I live in a freshman hall and am staying in summer housing. When can I move in?

Creighton students transitioning from their Spring housing assignment directly into their Summer housing assignment will have a Creighton-provided place to stay during the transition period. Creighton students not immediately moving into summer housing will need to completely vacate their spring housing assignment and move into summer housing on their designated date.

I live in a sophomore hall and am moving into Opus. When can I move in?

Current residents are entitled to their Opus space through the Sunday after graduation. New Opus residents will be able to move in from the following Monday through Wednesday based on when apartments become available. Staff will contact you when your apartment is ready to move into!

I live in a sophomore hall and am moving into Opus. Where can I stay until my apartment is ready?

You will either be able to stay in your current housing assignment or will be moved into a temporary space until your Opus apartment is ready. Either way, Creighton will provide a place for you to stay until you can move into your new Opus home. If you’re unable to move into your Opus apartment at the designated time, you will not be able to remain in your spring housing assignment beyond that time.
