Workshops

Build your self-care skills.

This “Snacks and Skills” series will provide engaging opportunities for students to learn and discuss self-care with the help of a trained staff member from Student Counseling. These one-hour get-togethers are meant to teach specific skills related to coping, wellness, self-care, mindfulness, and more ways of coping with life’s many challenges. These discussions will occur once a month on Tuesdays in various locations across campus. All students are welcome!

Snacks and gift bags will be provided, so please register to help us confirm the number of attendees. To register, please click the registration link for the “Snack and Skills” of your choice, and you will get an email reminding you of your commitment to attend as well as additional details and the meeting location.

Did you know that 75% of us are kinder to others than we are to ourselves?  When we struggle, we tend to be hard on ourselves or maybe overly judgmental or critical, and it can be difficult to break that habit and start talking to ourselves the way we would a friend. This workshop will help you improve your self-talk and learn to turn kindness inward, so that you can move through life’s hardships with a little more flexibility and self-compassion.

Many of us internalize messages that can lead to poor body image, which can negatively influence our well-being. This workshop is designed to help us learn how to overpower our negative thoughts and feelings about ourselves with affirming and accepting ones. This group also focuses on how to challenge the unrealistic and unobtainable body standards that people of all ages, genders, race/ethnicity, etc. are bombarded with daily.

This workshop will be held on Tuesdays from 4-5 p.m. (CDT).
