Honors Scholars Community

Honors Scholars Community.

The Honors Scholars Community is designed to fully welcome new Honors program freshmen to Creighton University.  The goals of the Honors program include fostering a community "committed to the ongoing education of students and faculty members as fellow seekers for truth." In addition to taking courses together, students will also live in community while participating in numerous monthly events as a group.

The Advantages of the Honors Scholars Community

  • Academics. Involvement with a highly-selective, academically rigorous program.
  • Community. All freshman honors students live together forming friendships for a lifetime while supporting each other's studies.
  • Faculty. The Honors Scholars Program provides more access to faculty and visiting campus speakers.

Symposiums

Honors Symposiums are community meetings designed to bring everyone on the floor together.  Hosted twice monthly, no two Symposiums are alike.  We may Skype with an Honors student studying abroad in Glasgow or Amiens, host a fireside chat with the Honors Program Director, or participate in a specially designed social activity.

Service

Students on the Honors floor have the unique opportunity to mentor local high school students as they apply for the Gates Millennial Scholarship.

Snack Nights

Snack Nights are a recent HSC tradition.  Residents sign up to cook a snack for the floor every week. Snack Nights are a great way for students to get creative in the kitchen. Last year, snacks included Bananas Foster and Coconut Biscuits. Yum!

Leadership Opportunities

There are a lot of opportunities to get involved with the Honors Program! HSC students can run for a hall government office, serve on the Honors Student Board, or join a floor committee to help with Visiting Scholars.

Honors Retreat

Honors freshmen go on an overnight retreat together in September or October of each year. The retreat is a great opportunity to get away from campus and get to know other students. During the retreat, freshmen will also have the chance to meet junior and senior Honors students.

Who lives in the Honors Scholars Community?
