Third-year law students, who are authorized to practice law by the Nebraska Supreme Court under the supervision of clinic faculty and attorneys, may enroll in:
Through our clinical program, you’ll earn four credit hours and learn essential lawyering skills, such as:
- Counseling
- Drafting pleadings and business documents
- Interviewing
- Negotiating settlements
- Oral argument
- Trial preparation
You’ll represent clients from the initial interview through trial and sometimes through appeal. In addition to learning legal skills, you’ll also be exposed to ethical issues confronting lawyers as they adhere to their duty to maintain and improve the profession. You’ll also confront failures within the legal system and their impact on access to justice for low-income people and families.
