Welcome to a New Semester

Dear Colleageus,

It has been a tremendous summer and, like you, I am eagerly counting down the days until all our students arrive on campus to begin a new semester. It will be exciting to not only have our returning students continue their Creighton journey but welcome the class of 2028 as they launch their academic careers with us.

In anticipation of the new academic year, I have prepared a short video message that will hopefully bring you a sense of anticipation as well as aspiration.

As we step into a new academic year, it is my hope that we enrich and engage mind, body, and heart in and through our Jesuit values and ideals, facilitating academic excellence and thoughtfulness, particularly as international conflict, volatile climate patterns, and a presidential election season stir and elicit strong concerns, commitments, and questions.

I encourage you to also mark your calendars for the return of Mission Week beginning Friday, Aug. 23, and running through Friday, Sept. 5. We will be joined Monday, Aug. 26, by the Rev. Greg Boyle, SJ, who recently received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for his gang intervention work, as our keynote speaker. Register today for his presentation, which will both be in-person on the Omaha campus and available via livestream for our colleagues in Phoenix and others.

Phoenix

Our Mass of the Holy Spirit and luncheon will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 21 (register here), and I am eager to see you at our Phoenix Campus Town Hall on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Omaha

Our Mass of the Holy Spirit will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 28, and I am eager to announce that our Omaha Campus Town Hall will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 3, just one day after Creighton’s 146th birthday!

Please monitor Creighton Today and your email inboxes in the coming weeks for additional information on these events.

Thank you again for your commitment to our students and our wider Creighton mission. I look forward to a remarkable next few weeks and dynamic year of unbounded possibility.

Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, SJ, PhD
President, Creighton University
