Use Either the Panopto App or Zoom for Best Performance, Not Both

To ensure a smooth and uninterrupted recording experience in the classroom environment, Creighton Information Technology (IT) advises running either Panopto or Zoom individually on a PC. If you wish to use of both Panopto and Zoom, it is prudent to schedule Panopto recordings on the dedicated appliance in the classroom, while reserving the classroom PC for Zoom activities alone. This approach will help avoid technical difficulties and ensure the integrity of your recordings.

Using both Panopto and Zoom on the classroom PC puts a high demand on system resources and simultaneously utilizes audio and video capture functions. Operating them together can lead to resource contention and conflicts, potentially causing both applications to malfunction. Such simultaneous operation risks the loss of recordings, as the conflict may result in data that cannot be recovered.

For help in getting Panopto scheduled in a classroom, contact the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) at 402.280.1190.

However, If you have scheduled a Panopto recording on an appliance in the classroom and are attempting to use Zoom on the PC and it isn’t working, please submit a service ticket to IT at myServices.creighton.edu.
