Talking About Politics on a College Campus

On Monday, Sept. 16, join the Division of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, the Center for Faculty Excellence and others in a timely webinar, Talking About Politics on a College Campus, featuring a panel of leaders from across campus that will share unique perspectives and answer questions about discussing politics. The panel is 2 to 3 p.m. CDT/noon to 1 p.m. MST.

The program will identify best practices and highlight the panelists’ knowledge and experiences, equipping participants with tools for navigating political discussions effectively and inclusively in their educational roles. Read more and register.

By the end of the program, participants will be able to reflect on diverse perspectives from panelists on the current political climate on college campuses, including key issues, and emerging trends; explore effective communication strategies for engaging in productive and respectful political discussions with students, based on panelists' experiences and advice; and describe methods for ensuring political discussions are inclusive and equitable, considering the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of students.

Participants will also discuss best practices for developing and implementing practices that support constructive political discourse while upholding academic freedom and campus safety, as highlighted by the panelists.
