The Heartland Innovations in Interprofessional Practice and Education (HIIPE) Summit, jointly sponsored by Creighton and other universities, was held earlier this summer. Many members of Creighton’s occupational therapy program helped to plan the event and served as presenters and facilitators.
Participants included:
Angela Patterson, OTD, interim director, School of Pharmacy and Health Professions, Office of Faculty and Staff Development, and associate professor of occupational therapy, who gave the welcome and overview;
Kylie Wildhelm, OTD, assistant professor of occupational therapy, who presented “Assessment of Interdisciplinary Service - Learning in the Underserved Community,” and co-presented “Student's Perception of Occupational Therapy's Role in a Homeless Shelter: A Phenomenological Study” with student Grace Stegeman;
Brenda Coppard, PhD, associate dean, who presented “An Innovative Interprofessional Learning Experience between Healthcare and Business Students” with Angie Bahle-Lamp, OTD, assistant professor of occupational therapy, Maggie Knight, DBA, associate professor and chair of accounting and business intelligence and analytics, and Yongyue Qi, PhD, associate professor of occupational therapy;
Colleen Spellman, OTD, assistant professor, who co-presented “Immersive Virtual Reality in Healthcare Education” with Andrea Thinnes, OTD, associate professor, and Erin Young, OTD, assistant professor, all in occupational therapy
