For the last two years, Creighton University and the Division of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion have proudly participated in the Cinco de Mayo parade in South Omaha. This year’s Cinco de Mayo parade will take place on Saturday, May 11, at the same time as Creighton’s commencement ceremony. While the University will not participate in this year’s parade, we encourage you to learn more about any local celebrations at Cinco de Mayo Omaha and Cinco de Mayo Phoenix

Cinco de Mayo commemorates May 5, 1862, the day the Mexican army won a battle with the French forces of Napoleon III. This victory served as a rallying point for the Mexican people as they resisted French occupation from 1862 to 1867.
