The Kripke Center for the Study of Religion and Society is co-sponsoring a two-day event on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 4 and 5, with Tri-Faith Initiative called “Faith and Democracy 2024: What’s at Stake?”
This event features prominent national experts on faith, democracy and race in contemporary American politics and is free for Creighton faculty, staff and students.
Friday, Oct. 4 - Conversation
7 p.m.; A conversation with the Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis, senior minister and public theologian at Middle Church in New York City, and the Rev. Jim Wallis, professor and inaugural holder of the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Chair in Faith and Justice at the Center of Faith and Justice, for which he serves as director at Georgetown University. They will be speaking on “Faith and Democracy 2024: What’s at Stake?”
Saturday, Oct. 5 - Lecture and panel
9 a.m. to noon; A keynote lecture with Samuel L. Perry, PhD, professor of sociology at the University of Oklahoma, discussing white Christian nationalism in American politics and elections. A panel discussion with all three speakers and breakout sessions will follow.
Both events will be at Countryside Community Church, 13130 Faith Plaza in Omaha, on the Tri-Faith campus.
Free Admission
The Kripke Center for the Study of Religion and Society is offering FREE admission for anyone with a Creighton ID. You must bring your Creighton ID to show at the door. If you’d like to attend, please fill out this survey by Tuesday, Oct. 1. Please bring your Creighton ID for admission to any part of the event.
