Christian Janousek, JD, PhD, assistant professor in the department of Political Science and International Relations, and the International City/County Management Association (ICMA) Student Chapter at Creighton recently hosted a delegation of city managers and administrators from Norway. On Monday, Aug. 26, Norwegian delegates and members of the Nebraska City/County Management Association (NCMA) participated in a campus tour of Creighton University and then attended a reception held at the Skutt Student Center. The reception included discussions with students about municipal and public administration in Nebraska and Norway. Delegates also attended a Creighton Bluejays soccer match on Sunday, Aug. 25.
The visiting delegation was part of the NCMA manager exchange program that has been in operation since 2014. The exchange program focuses on building cultural competency and professional interchange between Nebraska and Norway. Janousek has worked with the exchange program since its inception, including research on comparative international city management. As the faculty mentor for the ICMA Student Chapter at Creighton, Janousek assisted NCMA members in coordinating the visit to campus. This marked the first time that the delegation was hosted at Creighton University.
