Invitation to Open Your Nest

The Center for Faculty Excellence invites all faculty and professional staff who teach to “open your nest” to allow other faculty and staff colleagues to visit one course.

Following the success of last spring’s pilot program, the CFE is hosting its second iteration of Open Nest, an organized, University-wide initiative that invites faculty to visit their colleagues’ courses during two designated one-week time periods.

This initiative seeks to create a pedagogical community at Creighton. The goal of this project is to inspire faculty to become better teachers by observing colleagues, seeing new pedagogical strategies in action, and spurring conversations about teaching between faculty, especially across disciplines.

Open Your Nest

Open Nest Week 1 will be held Oct. 7-11 and Open Nest Week 2 will be held Oct. 21-25. Please complete this short BlueQ survey to share interest in opening your class. Please respond by Sept. 13.

The goal is to have 10-12 faculty representing all our colleges/schools and campuses to open their classroom once during one of the designated weeks. Depending on the response, we may have a wait list of faculty willing to open their classrooms, and we’ll communicate this with you no later than Sept. 18.

While we welcome everyone to open their nest, we are particularly interested in spotlighting faculty who use Vevox, the cloud-based polling and Q&A platform for student engagement in their classroom.

Upcoming Information

After collecting BlueQ responses, a Sign-Up Genius will be created for faculty and staff to sign up and visit. Faculty and staff who participate will be invited to participate in a follow-up conversation, either in person or via Zoom. Stay tuned to Creighton Today for more information.
