Daniel DiLeo, PhD, associate professor of the Justice and Peace Studies Program and chair of the Department of Cultural and Social Studies, recently published “Laudato Si' Commission calls Jesuit higher education to climate action” in National Catholic Reporter. Read the article.
DiLeo summarizes the Association of Jesuit Colleges and University’s recent Laudato Si’ Commission recommendation that called each Jesuit school to make and fund science-based greenhouse gas reduction commitments. DiLeo also suggests that enacting these recommendations will likely require each school to resist the “corporatization of higher education” by requiring Catholic social teaching formation for all its senior administrators and trustees.
