Creighton University received the Community Partner of the Year award from the Jesuit Academy (JA) at the "Hear Us Roar for Arts and Music" event on April 25. The award was presented to the Rev. Nicholas Santos, SJ, by JA president-elect Brad Ekwerekwu, PhD.

Many Creighton schools and organizations support the students of Jesuit Academy inside and outside of the classroom.

  • Occupational therapy students guided the emotional regulation and sensory-motor development of fourth- and fifth-graders.
  • Nursing and dentistry students provide hearing, vision and dental screenings.
  • The Schlegel Center for Service and Justice and other groups volunteer their time to tutor the young men of Jesuit Academy.
  • The Creighton Students Union hosts the Jesuit Academy Jay Walk fundraiser every fall, and an undergraduate social media class worked with the JA advancement team to capture new content of student life for a marketing rebrand last year.

Jesuit Academy is an all-male middle school (grades 4-8) located in the heart of North Omaha. It is one of 18 Jesuit Nativity Schools in the United States with guiding principles to provide a faith-based education that breaks the cycle of poverty in underserved communities across America. The model includes an extended school day, an extended school year and a tailored school/class enrollment size.
