Cortes and Gomez Join TRIO Student Support Services

Student Success recently welcomed two new staff members to its TRIO Student Support Services team, Felix Cortes and Blanca Gomez.

Felix Cortes recently accepted the role of assistant director for recruitment and assessment. With a passion for education and leadership, Cortes will play a pivotal role in recruiting the next class of young adult leaders to the program along with providing the additional support to enhance student success. 

Blanca Gomez joined TRIO as assistant director for academic support and retention. She served in a variety of positions with Briar Cliff University, including as a career navigator and a financial aid counselor, before leaving higher education for a time and relocating to Tucson, Arizona. With a profound passion for supporting students and a desire to live closer to her family in the Midwest, she joined the Creighton TRIO team.

Established in 1979, TRiO Student Support Services provides academic, emotional, cultural, and financial support for first-generation and income eligible students and students with disabilities. As part of Student Success, SSS creates a community focused on resilience, persistence, and graduation.
