2024 Markoe-DePorres Annual Social Justice Lecture on Religion and Politics

The Justice and Peace Studies Program’s 2024 Markoe-DePorres Annual Social Justice Lecture is Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. CT in Harper Center 2057/2058.

Veteran journalist Mary Jo McConahay will speak from her book Playing God: American Catholic Bishops and the Far Right. McConahay will outline the growing alliance between U.S. Catholic bishops and far-right political movements that clash with Catholic social teaching.
