The Center for Faculty Excellence actively supports faculty success in teaching that enhances student learning, scholarship, and service/practice across the career lifespan in the Catholic, Jesuit tradition at Creighton University.
Vision:
The Center for Faculty Excellence strives to be a recognized leader in faculty development by:
- facilitating an engaged community of teacher-scholars,
- fostering interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty, and
- creating an environment where faculty can energize, rejuvenate, and innovate.
Guiding Assumptions:
- Faculty success enhances student success which enhances Creighton’s success.
- Faculty development in all aspects of the faculty role (teaching, scholarship, service/practice) is needed throughout the faculty member’s career lifespan: new/early career scholar, immediate pre-/post-tenure and/or promotion, mid-career scholar, and senior scholar.
- “Faculty” is broadly defined: full-time/part-time, tenure-track/non-tenure track, adjunct, practice, and special.
- CFE features a collaborative model with partners from across the University.
- eLearning and assessment are integrated into the fabric of teaching and learning.
- CFE strategies are evidence-driven and mission-focused.
- Strategic priorities are resource-backed.
- Continuous improvement/ evaluation processes are incorporated into programs and projects.
