Founded in 1945 by Dr. Rollin B. Posey, Alpha Sigma Lambda honors dedicated adult students who, while handling the varied responsibilities of life in addition to the demands of school, achieve and maintain high scholastic standards. Students are inducted into the society based on these qualities along with their cumulative GPA and place among the top 20% of their class. The Creighton University Chapter, Nu Tau Epsilon, was inaugurated in 2014. The honor ceremony is held annually in November during Nontraditional Student Week.

Be sure to check your course listing and syllabus to ensure that you will have all the needed materials for your course. The campus bookstore is located in the Harper Center on the main floor. You can purchase textbooks, Creighton apparel, gifts, supplies, reading materials, gift cards, and computer products there. The Bookstore offers a buy-back program for textbooks. The bookstore also offers a book rental program where you pay a discounted price for the book and return it by a set due date. If the book is not returned or returned late, you will be charged the full cost of the textbook. You may also search for and/or purchase your textbooks online. Textbooks purchased online can be mailed to your home address or can be held for pickup at the bookstore. You can access the textbooks needed for your courses by clicking on the “Bookstore” link while logged in to your NEST account. You may also go to the Creighton Bookstore website and manually search for your books.

If you are on campus during meal time and don’t feel like running off campus for food, there are several dining locations available to serve your tastes.

Brandeis Hall or Becker Hall - These two cafeterias on campus serve buffet style and do have vegetarian options. Graband-go options are available here as well. Brandeis Hall is located in the Brandeis building across from Creighton Hall. Becker Hall is located between the Kiewit and Becker Dorms. Dining options are also available in the Skutt Student Center and Harper Center.

Your Student ID card will enable you to access buildings after hours, access the parking garages, check out materials from the libraries on campus, and make cashless purchases. You can obtain your Creighton ID card from the Card Services Office or request it online via the Card Services website. Your student ID card has a high-frequency proximity chip as well as a magnetic strip, so please do not alter or punch holes in your card. If your card is stolen or lost, please report to Card Services for deactivation. The replacement fee is $20 if lost or stolen or $10 if you are replacing a damaged card.

The services provided by the Career Center including career assessments, career courses, individual and group internship and job search coaching, resume assistance, practice interviewing, career fairs, and campus interviews. Career Center services and resources are available to current students and alumni. Creighton alumni are eligible to utilize career center services of all of the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities through the Jesuit Career Center Consortium.

Located on the ground floor of the Harper Center, the Center for Health and Counseling offers a full-service medical clinic staffed with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified medical assistants. In addition, the Center provides individual counseling, group counseling, academic counseling, crisis intervention and a variety of other services.

The Collaborative Ministry Office provides spiritual formation opportunities that strengthen personal and communal growth. Its activities are consistent with the mission of Creighton University to orient and educate Creighton faculty and students about the centrality of the Jesuit mission of the University that includes Ignatian spirituality. Their online ministries offer students new sites, new links and new prayers. The website offers daily struggles and personal reflections from faculty and staff that may give you some insight applicable to your own life and serve as inspiration to you. The Collaborative Ministry Office also offers a 34-week online retreat for busy individuals.

Creighton has three libraries on campus: Reinert- Alumni Library located at the heart of campus, the Health Sciences Library located on the west side of campus, and the Law Library located on the east side of campus. Reinert Library is the primary library utilized by most CPS students; however, all three libraries are linked online via the CUlibrary portal where you can search for materials in all three libraries at once.

TIP: Librarians are ready to assist you with your research project. Submit your questions through the Research Assistant Program (RAP), live chat, send an email or schedule a Skype meeting. If you’re near our campus, you can also schedule a one-on-one visit.

Studeent Success provides Creighton students with a holistic approach to academic support, the pursuit of advanced studies in graduate and professional school, and career planning. The Success Center is located in the lower level of the Reinert-Alumni library, and offers individual and group mentoring, academic coaching, academic counseling, and assistance with any issues that could impact your ability to be academically successful at Creighton.

In partnership with the Career Center and Student and Family support services, the Student Success program provides learning communities where students with shared academic interests and experiences can come together and network with pre-professional students, faculty, and alumni, encouraging mentoring and shadowing opportunities.

Creighton University’s fitness centers offer free membership to full-time students. As a part-time student, gym membership is not included in your fees; therefore if you’d like to have access to the gym, a membership may be purchased at the Campus Recreation Office. All CPS students are invited to join a student group for adult learners. The NTSU is a diverse student body created to cultivate the educational and social experience of the non-traditional student. The organization hosts events throughout the year. In addition, the president of the NTSU serves on the CSU Cabinet and on the Adult Learning Council.

Located in Old Gym, Room 437, the Office of Disability Accommodations coordinates services for students with disabilities to insure equal access to programs and facilities.

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 provide for reasonable accommodations and services to qualified individuals with disabilities. Creighton University requires that written documentation of a student’s disability be provided to the Director of the Office of Disability Accommodations (ODA) before any assistance can be provided. This written document must be provided by a qualified evaluator as determined by the Director of ODA, and should provide current recommendations for a postsecondary setting.

As a student at Creighton University, you deserve a safe environment. The Department of Public Safety works in partnership with students, faculty, and staff, to help and protect people, secure property, solve problems, and enhance the quality of campus life. There are several Blue Light emergency phones placed around campus and officers patrol the campus on foot, on bicycles, and by vehicle 24 hours a day. To report a crime please contact Public Safety at 402.280.2104 (for non-emergencies) or 402.280.2911 (for emergencies). Victims are encouraged to report all incidents to Public Safety regardless of how insignificant the crime may seem. For all on-campus emergencies, you must call 402.280.2911 instead of 911.

If you’re parking on campus you’ll need to have a valid parking permit. Students attending courses after 4 PM may obtain a free “Evening” permit from the CPS Dean’s office. If you’re taking courses during the day, you’ll need to purchase a “Student” permit at the Public Safety Office, located at 2205 Burt Street. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. The purchase of a permit does not guarantee the availability of a space.

For full-time students taking courses during the day, permit fees are $332 per year. For part-time students during the day, the permit fee is $166 per year. Additional pro-rated parking rates may be available. Please inquire at the Public Safety Office.

Both the tag and the validation sticker need to be present on your vehicle. Student parking lots are marked by a corresponding green and white “Student Parking” sign. Student parking is available on levels 1 and 2 of the 20th Street parking garage and on levels 2 and 3 of the 24th Street garage. Students arriving after 4 PM during the weekday, or anytime during the weekend are allowed to park in the blue and white “Faculty/ Staff” lots. On-Campus Tutoring:
The Student Success program offers on-campus individual and group tutoring sessions during the Fall and Spring semesters, excluding university breaks. Students are welcome to drop-in for group tutoring sessions. Visit the Student Success website for subjects, locations and times.

Individual, peer-to-peer tutoring sessions are by appointment online.

On-Campus Writing Center:
Almost every course at Creighton requires students to write papers, and sometimes, you may experience writer’s block or would like a second opinion on your topic. Wherever you may find yourself in the writing process, and whatever your proficiency is, the Writing Center is there to help you, free of charge. Whether it’s revising a draft, brainstorming, or outlining and organizing your ideas, the Writing Center can help you meet your writing goals.

To make an appointment, sign up in the appointment book available at the Writing Center. The Writing Center is located on the first level of the Creighton Hall building, Room 136.

SmartThinking Online Tutoring

All CPS students have access to online, on-demand tutoring and writing center services. Creighton has partnered with SmartThinking online tutoring in order to provide academic support by appointment and on-demand. Online tutoring is available to you at no cost and includes tutoring support in a number of subjects:
