Wong Publishes Quantum Computing Article in American Physical Society Journal

Jacob Rapoza, a junior Creighton’s Physics and Engineering 3-2 Dual Degree Program, and Tom Wong, PhD, assistant professor of physics have published Search by Lackadaisical Quantum Walk with Symmetry Breaking in Physical Review A, published by the American Physical Society.

In their work, Rapoza and Wong showed that symmetries are not required for a quantum computer to search certain types of networks more quickly using the quantum analog of a lazy random walk. Their results are supported by analytical proofs and numerical simulations.

The publication is the culmination of over two years of work. The team started working on this project the summer before Rapoza’s freshman year at Creighton.
